Arlington Dart League: League Overview and Benefits
OVERVIEW AND FORMAT
Founded in 1996, the Arlington Dart League is a steel tip dart league based out of North Arlington, NJ. The league has over 200 players of all playing levels, spanning 3 divisions, A, B and C. Each division follows the same format: 401 Singles (SI/DO), Doubles Cricket, 301 Singles (DI/DO), 501 Singles (DI/DO), and Singles Cricket. Weekly matches start at 7pm on Tuesday evenings for all divisions and are held at bars and pubs throughout northern New Jersey; primarily in Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties. Each season begins in September, running for approximately 20 weeks, plus an additional 3-5 weeks for playoffs and championship rounds. The season culminates with an awards banquet, Luck of the Draw Tournament and cash payouts to the best players and teams in each division.
Teams and players receive over $10,000 in award money each year, and the Arlington Dart League has paid out over $250,000 since its first year!
LEAGUE BENEFITS
CASH PAYOUTS.
After all, this is a money league, not a wimpy trophy league. The top players and top teams in each division are rewarded for their successful playing throughout the year. Players can earn cash payouts individually, as part of a winning team, or both. Teams and players receive over $10,000 in award money each year.
NO WEEKLY DUES.
That is correct, NO WEEKLY DUES! Individual player dues is a one time, $70 payment. Compare that to $5 a week dues or more in other local leagues. Do the math, you'll be saving money even if you don't earn a cash payout. Your one time $70 payment also includes entry into the year-end Awards Banquet.
local travel.
If you happen to partake in a beverage or two, why travel further than needed? The majority of the matches for all divisions are held at bars and pubs throughout northern New Jersey; primarily in Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties, all within a 12 mi. radius of each other. And if you didn't want to drive, the venues are close enough to take Uber or Lyft to and from home, and still leave you with money to buy your teammates a round of drinks.
awards BANQUET.
This is the time to celebrate, congratulate and enjoy the camaraderie of every player on every team, in every division. FREE to all league players, the awards banquet is an all-you-can-eat hot and cold buffet and all you can drink (beer and soda) celebration. Most importantly, this is where the top players and teams in all divisions receive their cash payouts. The evening ends with a Luck of the Draw tournament (entry fee is separate), open to league players and outside guests.
best competition.
Whether you’re a highly experienced player with many seasons under your belt, or you're new to the game and are starting out in the league for the first time, having 3 divisions (A,B & C), allows each player to compete against players and in a division, with similar skills and experience. Each division has serious players. By playing against those players, you’ll improve your own darting skills. As you improve, you’ll also have the opportunity to advance. The best C division players can move up to B division, and the best B division players can move up to the A division.
free food.
At every match, the host bar or pub of the home team provides food for both teams. Sometimes the food is as basic as pizza or hotdogs, hamburgers or sandwiches. And sometimes the bar/pub owners get a little fancy and provide items such as lasagna, sausage and peppers or cheese steak sandwiches. Though not a league rule, all players greatly appreciate the participation and generosity of every bar and pub. Providing food at matches has been a trademark of the league for many years, and not something you'll experience in many other leagues.
payment options.
League dues are announced several weeks prior to the deadline. However, we understand that cash or your checkbook may not be readily available. To help both players and sponsors avoid late fees, the league provides various payment options in addition to cash and check. Player and sponsor fees can be paid via debit or credit card using the Square app (swipe), or the Venmo app (works on iOS and Android devices). You’ll need to download and install the Venmo app to your iOS device or your Android device and create an account. Once your account is set up, you can make payments by transferring funds through the Venmo app. League fees can also be paid using Apple Pay (pre installed, and works only on iOS devices), and PayPal.
good people.
It doesn’t matter if you’re new to the league, new to a team, one of the top players or someone playing darts for the first time. What you'll experience in the Arlington Dart League is a strong sense of friendship, support and camaraderie amongst all players in the league. It’s not uncommon to see teammates and even those who might be thought of as competitors from other teams, become life-long friends both on and off the oche.
